WEEK 3 - WHATS ON YOUR MIND?: Maddi Mays

  1. I’m so incredibly concerned about the COVID-19, coronavirus. I have had so much anxiety regarding this virus that it’s practically all I can think about. While statistically I should be okay because I am not elderly nor do I suffer from diseases that could compromise my health, it is still quite terrifying. Especially considering the amount of covering the US government is doing and how little testing we are receiving in comparison to other countries. (South Korea’s drive-thru-testing, China’s at home testing kits) There is however something quite interesting about how young, and POC people are not really being super effected by the disease. How the disease is quite literally targeting old, white people. (Bad joke, but ironically it seems like years and years of karma) but there’s also quite a number of population control conspiracies that I can’t help but consider. It’s all very confusing and all I can do is wash my hands and take elderberry gummies. (UPDATE: You can’t even take elderberry gummies anymore!! It’s been proven that Elderberry could make the virus more fatal if infected!! So now I take Zinc, Vitamin B12, C and D3, Omega 3’s, Coated Colloidal Silver Throat Spray and MyCommunity Immune Support Mushroom Capsules. There’s no way I’m letting this virus get me haha.)
  2. The election. I’m worried/concerned about the Trump administration/republicans taking over for another 4 years. There’s a lot of undoing that was done and it’s usually in the 2nd term that they put a lot of the plans to action.
  3. Trump’s handling of COVID-19 as a whole is probably the worst thing he’s ever done. The fact that thousands if not millions of American people will get sick and/or die because he dropped the ball is infuriating. His refusal to tell the truth even now, weeks after we’ve already been in quarantine, is just disrespectful at this point. I am so tired of seeing this man, and while Biden isn’t the best either, I’ll take anyone else at this point.

Issues that have been impacting my life and the ones around me mainly revolve around environmental issues. One of the pressing issues that affects the agriculture community in California is the State’s distribution of water. Now a tactic that the State Government has had for many years is to take water from Northern California and send it down to the South. The south is in need of water as they do not get enough to support themselves, but the issue is a bit larger and encompuses the states refusal to create more reservoirs to store water to be used during the dryer months. But the main issue is that the focus is uneven and falls heavily on the side of sending it to the south instead of distributing it evenly so farmers in all regions but mainly central and southern california have the proper amount of water to grow their crops. California is one of the leading states in the production and exporting of agriculture products due to our vast and wide scale of geological environments, but ...
