week 2 - the roof is on fire

In this project, the actors were teenagers in high school. They worked with teachers and the writer Susan to create a collaborative project to bring awareness about how the media is effecting teens. They kept trying to portray how collaborative they were but it seemed like a project that they threw together and just asked the teens to talk about controversial things with an audience of mostly middle aged white people living in Oakland CA. It felt a bit forced, and like someones dream project to change the minds of people but in reality it didn't feel like it would really help any situation. Teenagers are in the times of their lives where the people who influence them matters. Media is the enemy and unfortunately the way people are depicted on the news or on social media isn't really going to change. It is a situation where everyone involved needs to change and people have different beliefs and prejudices that sometimes can't be bulldozed though. This documentary was interesting to watch but I felt like the project could have been executed better or perhaps run by these teens rather than them just sitting in their cars ranting about controversial topics.
