In terms of community engagement, the students first had to recognize and discuss common difficulties that were apparent with members of their community. From there, they found common stereotypes which were broken down on how those stereotypes were putting limitations on the youth of the community. By putting these topics in a improvised conversational performance, the artists’ were able to engage the audience in a more genuine and personal setting because the performers were speaking from their real experiences in the community. I think it is somewhat effective because the audience can experience a very real conversation about their community but the audience is not that engaged with the performers.
