Conversation Pieces Assignment 1

After reading conversation pieces I found multiple things to be interesting. one of which being in Zurich Switzerland. These poor women turning to prostitution to support their drug habits. Mostly women like this need help rather than be prosecuted and arrested as well as harassed by police.

the article talks about modern art being a platform for an aesthetic that shows light on some harder non- conventional topics.

there is some debate about public art and who owns it and who has the right to create art about such hard topics.

My questions that I have are...

1. how far can aesthetics come into play when dealing with controversial topics?
2. who has the rights to the art when the art is community based?
3. is activism art?
